A Parents’ Guide to Junior Tennis and Competitions

The coaching programme at the Club continues to grow and the Club takes great pride in delivering quality for all ages and standards of players. Our programmes range from tots tennis at 3 and 4 years through to a very active mini red tennis programme at 8 and under and all the way through the various age groups.

The Club runs invitational classes for the more committed players who are aspiring to County level and beyond and who want to play and compete more. We have an excellent team of coaches who have their own expertise. The team of Sue Rich, Teresa Catlin, Richard Bragg, Marcel Chambers and Michael King provide a wealth of experience, each with their own strengths and a good blend to cater for all the needs of our Club members. All the coaches are LTA licensed and are continually updating themselves – for further coach information please click here.

The tournament programme at the Club is going from strength to strength, especially at the mini red, orange levels – to see the LTA Youth competition information – please click here. The Club also offers starter events for the 8 & Under players who haven’t played in tournaments previously, which are friendly fun tournaments.

The Club runs individual and team events for these young players and it is the ideal way of introducing competition and getting these youngsters to “play the game of tennis”. The team events have been a great success.

In addition we run three highly successful Grade 3 tournaments, one at Easter and two in the Summer when the Club attracts a high quality of players from all around the County. We run various Winter County Tour events (grade 4 and 5) and a week long Grade 4 event in the October half term.

The Club enters several teams in the LTA National League event from 8 & Under through to 18 & Under. Our parents kindly take on the role of captaining the younger age groups. We also enter the Road to Wimbledon tournament which is for the 14 & Under age group and the prize to the winner of the County finals of the Road to Wimbledon is to take part in the national finals at Wimbledon.
