I am extremely proud to be Chair of a fantastic community club with a long history of being open, inclusive and in supporting those in need. As our neighbours you may well be surprised to see people still playing tennis. I wanted to assure you that this is being done in line with Government and LTA advice. This advice frequently changes and the club is constantly monitoring and implementing required actions, but the key is:
The Government have currently indicated that recreational exercise that takes place at a safe distance from others and in safe exercise environments is something that can continue during this period.
The Department of Culture, Media and Sport has specifically advised us that tennis is one of the best examples of social distancing in practice, and so should be encouraged as long as the guidance permits.
There is a lot more detail in the changing advice. All social tennis, group coaching and tournaments have been cancelled and the clubhouse closed. Only limited individual coaching and prearranged matches operating in line with the guidelines are left and this will cease as soon as we are advised.
As our neighbours, we request that if anyone has any questions or is in need of any support during these difficult times, email email@example.com (including Resident in the title) so we can try and help. I am particularly concerned that with social distancing measures some people will become extremely isolated – don’t be afraid to contact us as I am sure we will be able to arrange social contact amongst our community.
