CLTC runs junior coaching sessions all year round for all abilities of children aged 4-18yrs. The coaching team at CLTC has a wealth of experience developing young players from their early days as keen novices through to national standard players. Our coaches are all CRB checked, are fully licensed and insured. The coaching programme is run by the club and all surpluses are put back into improving CLTC and the service it provides to its members.
During the school term CLTC runs weekly group classes which are open to all levels of children aged 4-18yrs. These sessions are designed to be instructional and fun and enable children to learn how to compete and enjoy the game. The club uses the LTA mini tennis system where children under 11 use specific size courts and balls that are the correct size and bounce height. CLTC keep player to coach ratios as low as possible to ensure a high level of quality and give the children the best opportunity to improve.
For juniors who are confident competing and interested in pushing their tennis to a higher level, CLTC provides invitational groups where children of a similar level are invited to train with each other in sessions with a higher training intensity. We don’t advertise these sessions so you will need to contact our Tennis Manager to discuss accessing these courses.
CLTC runs a highly successful holiday camp programme for children of all ages and is great introduction to tennis. The camps run during all school holidays and are staffed by qualified coaches and assistants. They are great fun and an ideal way to meet new friends and learn all aspects of the game. If you have free time in the holidays sign up for a crash course or refresher. Players can enroll for any number of days or the whole week.
4 -7 year age groups
There are group sessions for the minis from age 4 to 7 years old. These sessions involve a lot of ABCs – agility, balance, coordination and speed, followed by racket skills leading to rallying and playing a game.
8-18 year age groups
For the older children 8 – 18 years there are half day camps. Players are grouped according to age and ability to maximise their social enjoyment and tennis development. Days are structured to include various technical skills leading to their tactical uses, combined with athletic cardio drills, ending the day with some friendly match play or team games.
