2. Clubs with more than one team: If a club enters more than one team, once a player has played for a higher team he or she is ineligible to play for the lower team again. 3. Players’ eligibility: Any bona fide member of a club is eligible to play with the exception of: (a): any player who has represented any County Senior first team in any match over the past 5 seasons (b): any player who has played more than twice in division 1 or 2 of the Penn Cambridge & District Leagues in any matches (Men’s, Ladies’ or Mixed) prior to the Cup fixture in the current season. No player may play in more than one match in the same round. This ruling does not prevent a player with dual bona fide membership of more than one club playing for each club in a different round. For the semi-final and final rounds players must have either played in a preceding round of the Grays’s Cup or in a League Match for that club that season. 4. Play: Teams to comprise two pairs, each pair to play each opposing pair the best of three sets, the first two sets being tie-break at 6-6, but the third set to be a long set. The winning team shall be that winning most rubbers. If the rubbers are equal the result shall be decided on sets, and if the sets are equal then games will decide the match. In the event that the games are level, the captains of each team must select one pair to contest a one-game tie-break to decide the result. 5. Incomplete matches: In the event of a match being incomplete through bad weather or bad light, the result shall be decided on the result of the first pair of rubbers played. If these are not completed then the match shall be rearranged. 6. Choice of date: The home team shall offer the away team a choice of three dates for the match. In the event of postponement, then the two teams should agree a date. The onus to arrange the fixture is with both teams, but if the match is not played by the deadline date then the away team shall go through. 7. Result notification: The winning team shall inform the organiser of the result within three days and also contact the likely next round opponent. 8. Rules: Rules generally as for the League, except as
above, but any queries or disputes should be referred to the League Secretary
who shall have the power to interpret or amend the rules in order that
the ideals of sportsmanship may be preserved. The League Secretary’s
decision shall be final.
