Ladies' Teams

Women's tennis at CLTC enjoys good depth. We have county representation at all levels, junior and senior, and particularly at Vets level, with several players representing (and in some cases captaining) the county at senior, Over 35 and higher age groups. Our teams are made up of seniors and juniors and we are keen to integrate younger players into the teams. Within the club there are social play opportunities and competitions, as well as coaching and fitness sessions for a variety of abilities.

We compete in a variety of competitions, including the Cambs winter and summer leagues, the Cambs vets winter mixed league, the Vets LTA inter club age group knock outs and the LTA's premier inter club competition, the AEGON National Club League.

In last year's AEGON we came 2nd in our Regional division to a strong Letchworth side and this year we are hoping to perform equally well, with some strong juniors boosting the team.

We also have a good record in the Cambs leagues with the first team regularly topping the Summer and Winter leagues in recent years. The summer ladies league runs from April to June, with most matches mid-week. Teams consist of 2 pairs who play 2 sets against both opposition pairs. This year we are fielding 6 teams, with the 1s, 2s and 3s all in the top division and the 4s, 5s and 6s spread through the other 7 divisions.

The mixed league follows after on a similar basis and we field 6 teams in that (often with more than one team in the top division).

The smaller winter league is mostly played at the weekends from October to December, on a similar basis, and we field 3 teams (again often with more than one team in the top division).

There is a vets mixed league January - April for ladies 40+ and men 45+
- matches consist of a men's and ladies' doubles followed by 2 mixed.
We field 4 teams in this and, as with all vets events, players are eligible in the year they turn 40/45 even if they have not quite reached those heady heights at the start of the year!

Other events exist and ladies keen to represent the club in a new event are welcome to speak to me or the club office who will be able to take a view, taking into account likely court and player availability.

Matches are as much about competing as enjoying being part of a team, exploring clubs across Cambs and beyond and hosting the opposition at home - we encourage all players to participate in the social after match teas. We do not usually charge match fees and players instead organise refreshments themselves and split any bar bill.

New players are always welcome, so please do contact me or the club office if you are interested in representing the club. We schedule practice and trial dates, so please keep an eye out for these.
Supporters are also much appreciated!

Here's to an enjoyable and successful 2011/12!
